1. About these terms
HelloPort operates the website at helloport.co.uk from the United Kingdom. In these terms, “HelloPort”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the operator of that service.
By using the website, creating an account or submitting information, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. These terms do not remove any rights you have under applicable consumer law.
The website is designed for general audiences. You must be at least 13 to create your own account. If you are under 18, use the service with the involvement of a parent or guardian, particularly when making travel or payment decisions.
2. What HelloPort provides
HelloPort provides cruise-port guides, venue and attraction information, suggested itineraries, route-planning tools, weather information and related editorial content. The service is currently provided without a subscription fee.
Suggested routes and time estimates are planning aids, not bookings, tickets, reservations, guided tours or guarantees. HelloPort does not act for any cruise line, port, venue, transport provider or other third party unless a page expressly says otherwise.
References to businesses are editorial information and are not endorsements or guarantees. Where a commercial placement or other material relationship exists, it should be identified clearly.
3. Your travel responsibility
You remain responsible for your travel decisions and for returning to your ship on time. Ship time, local time, all-aboard time and departure time can differ. Use the time given by your cruise line and allow a sensible margin for queues, tenders, port security, traffic, weather and transport disruption.
Before leaving the port area, confirm the correct berth or tender landing, final tender or shuttle, port access rules, passport or visa requirements and emergency instructions. Never ignore an instruction from the ship, crew, port authority, emergency service or local authority because it differs from this website.
Accessibility descriptions are general planning information, not professional accessibility assessments. Contact the cruise line, terminal, transport operator and venue directly if step-free access or other support is essential.
4. Weather and climate information
Forecasts and historical climate information are supplied using third-party data, including Open-Meteo. Forecasts can change quickly and climate averages do not predict conditions on a particular day.
Check an official local forecast, marine warnings and advice from your ship before tendering, boating, swimming, hiking or visiting an exposed area. Weather data should never be treated as safety advice.
5. Accounts, favourites and saved trips
You must provide a valid email address, keep your password confidential and tell us promptly if you believe your account is being misused. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account unless the problem was caused by our failure to take reasonable care.
Saved favourites and trips are convenience features. Keep your own copy of any itinerary you need while travelling. We may suspend an account where reasonably necessary to protect the service, investigate misuse or comply with law. We will act fairly and, where practical, explain the reason.
To request account deletion or help with account information, contact us using the details at the end of these terms.
6. Port requests and other submissions
You may submit port requests, business enquiries and other information through the website. Only submit information you are entitled to share. Do not submit unlawful, misleading, abusive, malicious or rights-infringing material, or sensitive personal information that is not needed for the request.
You keep ownership of material you submit. You give HelloPort a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to review, store, reproduce and adapt it only as reasonably needed to operate the service, respond to you and research or publish the requested guide. We do not promise to publish a request or reply to every submission.
7. External links and services
The website links to maps, weather providers, venues, attractions, transport operators, Wikipedia, PayPal and other third parties. Their websites, availability, content, security and terms are controlled by them, not HelloPort.
Check the third party’s own terms and privacy information before using its service or making a booking or payment. A link does not mean we guarantee that provider or accept responsibility for a transaction made with it.
8. Voluntary support payments
A “Buy me a coffee” or PayPal payment is a voluntary contribution towards HelloPort’s research, hosting and maintenance. It is not payment for a booking, subscription, priority listing or guaranteed service. HelloPort is not presented as a registered charity, so do not treat a contribution as a charitable donation or assume it is tax deductible.
PayPal processes the payment under its own terms. If a payment was duplicated or made in error, contact us promptly and we will consider the circumstances fairly. Nothing here affects any right or remedy that the law gives you.
9. Acceptable use
You must not:
- break the law or encourage unlawful or unsafe conduct using the service;
- attempt to access another person’s account, the private admin area or non-public data;
- introduce malware, overload the service, bypass security or interfere with normal operation;
- scrape or copy the website at a scale that harms the service or republishes a substantial part of its database;
- misrepresent an association with HelloPort or use its content to deceive another person.
Reasonable personal use, sharing links and ordinary search-engine indexing are allowed.
10. Intellectual property
Unless stated otherwise, HelloPort owns or licenses the website design, original text, structured guide data, branding and software. Third-party names, photographs, maps and data remain the property of their respective owners and may be subject to separate licences.
You may view, print and save guides and itineraries for your own personal, non-commercial travel planning. You may not sell, systematically reproduce, republish or create a competing database from a substantial part of the service without written permission.
11. Availability and changes
We use reasonable care to keep HelloPort available and useful, but uninterrupted access is not promised. We may maintain, secure, improve, remove or replace features. We may also correct or withdraw content that is inaccurate, outdated or unlawful.
We may update these terms when the service or law changes. Material changes will be highlighted reasonably, and the date at the top will be updated. Changes apply from publication and do not retrospectively remove rights already accrued.
12. Responsibility and liability
We use reasonable care in researching and operating HelloPort. However, ports, timetables, prices, opening hours, transport, access rules, businesses, weather and local conditions can change after publication. You should independently verify any information that could materially affect your safety, spending or return to the ship.
We are responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or our failure to use reasonable care. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable, is caused by information or services controlled by an independent third party, or results from your failure to follow current official instructions or take reasonable care of your own travel arrangements.
If you use HelloPort for business purposes, we are not responsible for loss of profit, revenue, business, opportunity, goodwill or anticipated savings arising from that use.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Nothing limits your statutory consumer rights.
13. Law and disputes
These terms and any dispute relating to them are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, but if you are a consumer living in Scotland, Northern Ireland or another country, you keep any mandatory legal protections and rights to bring proceedings in your home courts that applicable law gives you.
If a part of these terms is found unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue. A delay in enforcing a right does not waive that right.
